Smear Campaigns Won’t Build Anambra: Why Running Down Ekwunife Is A Dead-End Strategy

Politics, when done right, is about ideas, development, and service. Unfortunately, in Anambra State today, the public space is too often polluted by smear campaigns and calculated attempts to tarnish the image of credible leaders. Among the frequent targets is Senator Uche Ekwunife, a woman whose record of service, resilience, and commitment to Anambra has made her a force in the political landscape.

Why Smear Politics is Counterproductive

The obsession with attacking personalities instead of debating policies is not just lazy politics — it is destructive. Smear campaigns divide the people, erode trust in institutions, and distract leaders from real issues. Worse still, it deprives the electorate of the opportunity to weigh competing visions for governance on their merit.

In Anambra, the challenges are clear: insecurity, infrastructure deficits, youth unemployment, and the need to diversify the economy. These are problems that cannot be solved through WhatsApp propaganda, fake news, or the recycling of old allegations.

Ekwunife’s Record Speaks Louder Than Propaganda

Love her or not, Ekwunife has consistently demonstrated political courage. She has contested, lost, and won elections without abandoning the field. In the Senate, she has sponsored bills, attracted constituency projects, and amplified Anambra’s voice at the national level. Her resilience has inspired women and youth who see in her a model of persistence against the odds.

Instead of discrediting her, opponents would do better to challenge her ideas with superior policies. That is how democracy grows.

What Anambra Needs Now

Anambra is blessed with some of the most educated, industrious, and entrepreneurial people in Nigeria. To harness this, politics must rise above character assassination. The people are watching, and they deserve leaders who will focus on building roads, creating jobs, securing lives and property, and laying the groundwork for long-term prosperity.

The future will not be built on gossip, hate campaigns, or endless attacks on Ekwunife or any other leader. It will be built by those bold enough to present a roadmap, back it with action, and inspire collective confidence.

Conclusion

Running down Uche Ekwunife is not a development strategy; it is a dead-end. Anambra’s greatness will be determined not by who can shout the loudest smear, but by who can deliver the most meaningful results.
